Hair Vitamins

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 3:21 pm

Your hair is not just a byproduct of your body. Many people have the mistaken impression that because the hair that you see on your head is dead, that none of your hair is alive. That’s not true. The hair shaft itself may no longer be alive, but the hair follicle is very much alive and requires a wide range of nutrients to continue to grow lush and healthy hair. That’s why it’s important to get the right types of hair vitamins, if your aim is to grow the best head of hair that you can get. Much like a gardener gives their plants nutrients to help them grow, you need to give your follicles the right nutrients so it can grow great hair.

The Vitamins

Hair loves vitamin B. Vitamin B is easy to supplement in your diet with a vitamin pill. It can be harder to obtain through diet and is easily degraded with stress or food preparation techniques. If you want to help your hair grow, include a vitamin with all the B vitamins in it.

Vitamin A

Vitamin is also good for healthy skin and hair. Many naturopaths recommend adding salmon or flaxseed oils for supplementing your vitamin intake with natural products. Vitamin A is one vitamin that women should not overdo. It can produce birth defects in unborn children and should not be taken in excessive dosages.

Vitamin E

This vitamin is supposed to help with the intake of oxygen in your blood. By helping your circulation, you bring more nutrients to the hair follicle and stimulate hair growth.

Biotin

This is also known as vitamin H. It’s actually another form of a complex B vitamin, which has proven to be highly beneficial to hair growth. Biotin is sold in supplements in health food stores and many multi vitamins also contain it as an ingredient.

Supplemental Hair Vitamins

There are also minerals and other ingredients in supplemental hair vitamins that are good for hair growth. These vitamins may include larger dosages than the daily-recommended dosage for most people. If you are a woman and pregnant, just be sure they are safe to take while pregnant. Most pregnant women do take vitamins to help get the proper nutrition, but they are specifically prenatal vitamins that limit Vitamin A to safe dosages. Otherwise, you do want to take an abundance of these vitamins until you see some improvement in your hair loss. It would be very difficult to get a high dosage of these vitamins just through diet alone, and supplementation is necessary, in this case.

Can These Vitamins Be Used Topically?

Yes! You can get hair care products that include hair vitamins to help your hair grow. They are said to get to the roots and to be absorbed there where they can do the most good. However, if your shampoo is using petroleum-based products, the additional vitamins may not be sufficient to counteract those effects. Stick to natural shampoos with hair vitamins, if you are experiencing hair loss

Shiny Hair

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 8:57 pm

Shiny hair is easier for some hair types than for others. If you have very straight hair, odds are you have don’t have to work as hard to get a good shine as if you had curly hair. It doesn’t mean you can’t get a shiny head of naturally curly hair, it means you may have to help mother nature out a bit to bring that shine through. This is because curly hair has an uneven surface that can be porous, thus not reflecting light as well or as evenly as straight hair. However, there are products made for all hair types to help you achieve shine and maximize the gloss.

There are a number of things everyone can do to get a glossier hair of head. They can eat a diet high in protein and vitamins to help the body be strong and the hair to grow well. They can use products that include natural ingredients that cleanse the hair, without stripping it of natural oils. They can avoid over-treating the hair with flatirons, hair dryers, and other styling equipment. Heat will damage hair, so you want to avoid excessive heat when styling.

When you look for hair care products, make sure that are suited to your hair type to get the best results. Never shampoo without conditioning and deep condition once a month. You can use products like sprits conditioners after you are done showering, however, don’t be heavy handed with them.

Lastly, adding color can add instant bounce, shine, and volume to your hair. You want to be careful to pick ammonia-free hair colors and to resist the temptation to continuously treat your hair. Instead, focus on touch-ups now and then, rather than a full re-coloring. This can keep your hair from being stressed and keep the shine longer. Use shampoos and conditioners made specifically for color-treated hair, if you decide to go this route to increase the shine.

Natural Hair Care

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 12:35 pm

We’re bombarded daily by the media on how to over-process and dye our hairs for just the right look. The look may be short-lived, but the effects on your hair’s health can last a whole lot longer. If you want to avoid the harsh chemicals from permanents and dyes, you need to opt for simpler lifestyle choices. Natural hair care isn’t just about avoiding salon treatments, it’s also about building up your hair’s health so that it looks its best naturally.

Diet

One of the very first things that you want to pay attention to, if you are opting for natural hair care, is your diet. Natural hair care begins with a diet rich in vitamin B, along with other vitamins. If you can’t get foods rich in vitamin B in your diet, then think about adding a multivitamin supplement. There are a number of vitamins made specifically for great hair.

Shampoos and Conditioners

Natural shampoos and conditions should not include petroleum-based products, like sodium laurel sulfate, and shouldn’t be too heavy and weigh down the hair. You should buy a shampoo that suits your hair type so that you get just the right moisturizer for your hair.

Some people will use hair oils for a conditioner or in addition to a normal conditioner. These herbal oils are said to condition the hair lightly and be very economical to use. A few drops on the palm of the hands rubbed together and lightly scrunched into the ends is sufficient. Rosemary oil is very popular because rosemary is said to invigorate hair growth.

Styling and Coloring

You can have different styles cut in your hair, like layers. These can work very nicely without requiring a permanent. Hair rollers are used to get curls on occasions, but any heat treatment can dry out the hair whether it is hot rollers or a flat iron. You can use these styling tools, just be careful not to overuse them.

Natural hair care uses hair dyes that do not contain ammonia. Ammonia is very caustic to the hair and smells bad too. There are plant-based dyes like henna that can also be used to build up gloss and color the hair red or black, however they cannot be used in conjunction with commercial hair dyes without unexpected and unpleasant results.

Why Natural Hair Care Works

Natural hair care is all about increasing the nutrients to the hair while reducing the stressors. This should build up your hairs strength and flexibility, making it less prone to split ends and breakage. You don’t have to give up style or color, but people rely more on products that have fewer petrochemical or caustic agents. It relies on the hair’s own natural beauty rather than masking it with artificial colors or plumping it up with permanents. It can help you to achieve a fuller head of glossy, healthy hair. It is a lifestyle choice and one that can help increase your hair’s health for years to come.

Dry Hair Problems

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:39 pm

If you have dry hair, you know what dry hair problems can do to your image. You may have a bad case of the split ends, or maybe your hair just is breaking from being brittle. It can be difficult to style without breaking and damaging the follicles more. What can you do to treat dry hair problems before they get out of hand?

Don’t Over Treat Your Hair

Hot rollers, curling irons, blow dryings, flattening irons, permanents, and chemical treatments can all contribute to your dry hair problems. If you want your hair to keep it’s normal glossy coat then you need to reduce the amount of treatments you use on your hair or pick some that aren’t as hazardous to the hair.

Take Your Hair Type Into Account

Some hair appears dry because it is curly and naturally frizzes. That doesn’t it is dry. It may be fly away, but that doesn’t mean it is damaged. Take your hair type into account when you are seeking treatments. Some treatments can actually help to dry the hair out if it is too oily. But, straightening curly hair can actually dry it out. So, you dependent on the type of hair you have and what you want to accomplish, be sure to start off with hair that is in great shape in case the treatment stresses it out. It can recover more quickly that way.

When you pick out shampoos and conditioners, make sure to look for the right hair type. Use shampoos and conditioners for dry hair to give you an added boost in moisturizing power.

Use Natural Products

Natural products can help to reduce the amount of chemicals your hair is exposed to in a typical day. They can smell wonderful and be just as effective to clean and condition your hair. They shouldn’t contain sodium laurel sulfate or any of its derivatives to be considered natural. This ingredient is petroleum-based and is associated with hair loss in some people. There is some evidence it might also cause cancer too.

Natural moisturizing products for the hair can be as simple as a small application of rosemary oil on your hair when it is dry. You simply put one or two drops on your palms and rub the hands together. Then rub the oils into your hair, starting with the ends first. A simple routine like this can make your hair look glossy and beautiful with a minimal of fuss.

Protect Your Hair When You Are Outdoors

If you have an active lifestyle and remember to always put on your sun block, don’t forget to do the same with your hair. Your hair needs protection from the elements just as much as your skin. Use hair products with an SPF rating, or choose a good sun hat.

If you go swimming, rinse the hair before and after getting into a pool. This can help to keep the hair from absorbing too much chlorine. Then shampoo and condition the hair, as it will need to be moisturized too.

Semi Permanent Hair Color

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 7:05 pm

The quickest way to get a whole new you without spending a lot of money is to change your hair color. If you’ve never done this before, the prospect may seem at once thrilling and anxiety provoking. There are a number of different hair color products and they all fall into the following categories: temporary, semi permanent, demi, and permanent hair color. The semi permanent hair color is great for people who want to change their color, but may not want to make it permanent. It can give you more time than the temporary colors to decide whether you like the look, but you don’t have to worry about it being permanent.

How Does A Semi Permanent Hair Color Work?

Semi permanent hair color works by penetrating the hair shaft to make the color last longer than a temporary hair color. It doesn’t last forever, however, and will be gone after about 8 to 14 shampoo cycles. They don’t include a developer and are therefore less caustic to the hair than permanent hair colors. Since they are not permanent, it can be difficult to get a good red tone from a semi permanent hair color.

Is Henna Semi Permanent?

Henna is a natural plant-based dye that is natural and less damaging to the hair than commercial hair colors. There are a number of different opinions on whether henna is semi permanent or not. You can get deep reds with henna that last a bit longer, unlike some of the other semi permanent colors.

The thing is that henna coats the hair shaft with color and that is what reflects light. It makes the hair seem thicker and glossier, but it also is quite permanent in that you won’t be able to dye it with any commercial products once it is dyed with henna. Although the color may not last, the product may remain in the hair and most beauticians will refuse to use a commercial hair color product on top of hair that has been subjected to henna. The reason is that the two products interact and can turn the hair bright green. So, if you are committed to only using henna and natural products, then you won’t be worried about wanting to dye your hair at a hair salon with commercial products. If you want to keep that option open, then avoid using henna. The color may be semi permanent, but the effects of henna on the hair can interact with commercial dyes in unexpected and unpleasant ways.

Semi Permanent Hair Color Benefits

Regardless of whether you try henna or use a semi permanent hair color available from the commercial market, either option does not dry out the hair or damage it as much as permanent hair color. Of course, if your hair is in good shape before you do the color, you can use any product and your hair can take a little wear and tear. If you don’t like the color with henna, you will have to re-dye it with more henna, maybe using black or go to a hairstylist who knows how to remove henna.

Dandruff

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 7:04 pm

Dandruff can be a condition that is caused by external or internal factors. Heredity can play a part in how often you experience dandruff. If you have a bad diet, or are in poor health over all, dandruff can be a symptom of a larger problem. However, most people suffer from dandruff due to environmental factors. They either irritate the scalp with hair and beauty products that are too harsh, treat their hair with dyes, hair sprays, and gels that contribute to the problem, or expose their scalp to dry conditions that make it itchy and dry.

These aren’t all the factors that contribute to dandruff, there are many more. Dandruff is a very common condition and so there are also many remedies out there. After you’ve looked at some of the causes, you should be aware of the different options you have for treating this condition.

Poor Health Or Diet

If diet or poor health is causing your problem, then you are going to have to treat the underlying cause before you can really see some improvement in the scalp condition. This may be difficult if you are suffering from a chronic ailment like diabetes or thyroid problems. However, it is not impossible. You need to be very patient and learn to modify your diet so that you can the nutrition you need while not aggravating your medical condition further. For diabetics, obviously avoiding sugars will do much to improve their health. Keeping a close eye on the glycemic index of all foods can help one to avoid high sugar foods while continuing to receive good nutrition. As the health of the body improves, the scalp condition improves too.

Harsh Chemical Treatments

If you have no underlying health issues, then your dandruff will be easier to treat. You might find instead that you can just stop over-treating your hair to alleviate the condition. Avoid hair dyes with ammonia and settle for more natural color treatments. Let your hair air dry instead of blow-drying it. Don’t use mousse or hair gel, unless it is for special occasions.

You will also want to include good conditioners and some dandruff fighting shampoos. There are a number of good hair products that were once prescription-based that are now available to the general public over-the-counter. Nizoral is one such product, and other tea tree oil natural scalp conditioners can work well too.

Avoid Dry Environments

If you are experiencing dandruff in the winter, your house may be too dry with low humidity. Adding a humidifier to your rooms or your furnace can help to change the environment and make your scalp healthier. The same is true of moving from one area of the country to another. If you are moving from a humid to a dry area, you will need to condition your scalp more after you wash your hair and you might need to change your hair care products to make up for the change in environment. What works well in one season and one locale, may not be enough to keep dandruff at bay in other areas of the countries.
